JNJ Dividend Increase! Portfolio Reallocation, Weekly Recap Issue #6
Join me on my road to financial freedom.
Hey guys! I hope you all had a great week in the market. For the third week in a row, we saw the S&P 500 trade in the same zone all week. Exciting news for shareholders of Johnson & Johnson who announced a 5.3% dividend raise. That was really great to hear considering $JNJ is a huge part of my portfolio. They have been under so much pressure with lawsuits, it’s a glimpse of positive in the right direction. I’m still waiting for a few more companies to announced their raises this year. I’ll be sure to write about it as they come in.
If you are new here, my goal is to reach financial freedom through dividend investing and rental real estate. I started sharing my journey to help educate and inspire others to do the same. Join me!

State Of The Market

Looking at the $SPY on the daily chart.
Last week, we were speaking about price slowly getting close to that resistance line at $415. Again, we saw more sideways trading this past week bouncing up and down in the same zone.
Take a look at the chart. Notice I circled the RSI indicator at the top. This is very interesting here. It is reading 60, which tells me a few things I consider for position. To me, a 60 RSI is telling me there is room to go before hitting a hot (overbought) RSI (70+), it also tells me its not impossible for the SPY to break through resistance at $415 and keep going. No-one knows what a stock is going to do but indicators allow us to put a scope on the lens. If you look at previous months, the $SPY ran a hot RSI in August 2022 at $425, it was the top of a beautiful run.
Purchases this week
This week will bit just a bit different as I didn’t actually purchase any shares this week. I received one dividend in the past week which was $MDT Medtronic for $17.45 which was reinvested so can be mentioned. Very excited about this one! This is a new position in the portfolio and have been building it slowly since Thanksgiving. I plan on building this one out for the next few years, getting it to the size of my $PFE and $MRK positions. I really enjoy investing in the healthcare sector.
The reason I didn’t actually purchase shares this week was because I was doing come clean up in the portfolio. I decided to sell my 105 shares of $WBD Warner Brothers Discovery. I received the shares from a spin off of $T AT&T. I held on to them since and the performance hasn’t been very positive. I sold for a 36% loss but sometimes these are decisions you have to make. One of my main goals this year is to increase my exposure to dividend ETF’s such as $SCHD, this was an opportunity to free up some cash and reallocate. $1,589 will be used to buy more shares of $SCHD. Hopefully if I can get it around that $70 range, that would add about 23 shares which would put me at 65 shares in total. Let’s go!

Dividend investing is a great way to build wealth and generate passive income just by owning a share of a company's stock.
And the best part is, it's accessible to anyone - no matter who you are or what your financial background is.
Weekly Tweet Corner

This was just a fun tweet that shows a quick note I wrote to my future self. Anyone that spends any kind of time with me knows I’m always talking about the future. It’s just something I feel very strongly about. Not only for myself but for anyone that wants to listen. I’m a huge believer in trying to make the most of yourself every day. Not just with your finances but rather in life in general. The consistent efforts day in and day really do compound over time. Just like anything you put your time and energy into, it tends to grow. Furthermore, anything that you do for yourself positively at your current age will benefit you down the line. I believe every word of that tweet to be true. Being able to see your yourself and your goals in the future is a super power! Use it to your advantage. See it and believe it!
Thanks so much for reading!
I’m super excited to provide this weekly newsletter so THANK YOU all for being subscribers.
Until next week. Keep the focus and stay consistent!
